Old Gaelic Wins Sloppy Scrimmage vs. Harrisburg

Old Gaelic went across the river to visit its old rivals Harrisburg on a steamy Saturday afternoon. With just a handful of practices and plenty of new faces in new places, rust was expected and apparent, but the visitors ultimately took care of business, 38-10

Old Gaelic scored its first with a dive from Kory Harris in the corner, but Harrisburg came back with a break from Central Penn 7s player Peter Tantillo. Mike DeFreitas, playing his first game at 8 man (on his Birthday, no less), scored next for Gaelic, but Harrisburg came back to keep things interesting early. From there, Gaelic grinded for 24 unanswered points to extend the scoreline and secure the win.

JT Hammond followed a break from fullback Caleb “Scurvy” Thompson, Chris Armrbrust quickly scored after moving back into the pack following a debut at center, Tyler Johnson dotted one down from the 13 position amidst his first Gaelic “cap,” then it was trusted veteran hooker Dano finishing off the match with a penalty kick to mark the game’s final score.

Next up, Gaelic will have two much-needed practices to tighten things up before taking on a tough Roses team in Lancaster in the first league match of the season.
