Old Gaelic Says Goodbye to Longtime Member Robbie Morris

Robbie Morris, longtime Old Gaelic club member, Old Boy, creator of this very Nose newsletter, founder of the World Famous Five Neat Guys and writer/creator of many of the band’s most cherished hits passed away Saturday morning, October 28.

Robbie was also the primary historian for “Canoeing at the Slum,” the impetus and first story for the rebooted, current e-version of The Nose.

“Pig legs” was a hooker for Old Gaelic through the 70s and 80s and continued to be a regular at home matches and OG events throughout the rest of his life.

He received a group visit from his closest Gaelic friends days before his passing, and was surrounded by family Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Robbie’s name. RIP, Rugger. You can read the “on-field” tribute via dramatic rivalry win on Saturday afternoon here.

Here is a collection of comments and stories written into the Old Boys’ email thread upon news of his terminally ill status:

Robbie is a great guy and a true friend. He gave Old Gaelic a lot: “The Nose,” the griffin on our patch, the five neat guys for which he bought the jackets and other hats, wigs, etc.; he was Vice President when the club elected president’s like Dumont (multiple terms), Elvis, and other nonsensical presidents, which meant Robbie was doing the president’s duties behind the scenes. He was also song writer extraordinaire and made sure Old Gaelic always won the parties. And he was a great hooker as well. (Back in the days when feeding was a penalty he stole more put-ins than any hooker I ever played with). He was very creative for and dedicated to all things Gaelic. I am proud to call him my friend. I wish him all the best luck in the world.

He was there for me after the bad accident in the late 70’s. My heart is with him. A great NEAT GUY!

Prayers for you pig legs and the family. I was just a kid (17) when I came to old Gaelic and got to play some Killer B’s with Robbie. Looking for a miracle healthy movement.

So many great absolutely ridiculously funny times with Robbie at the epicenter of all things OGRC!

… and countless well wishes/prayers for miracles.
