Have a Rich Time at the Old Gaelic Golf Tournament
Led by first-time organizer Rich Recordon, the Old Gaelic Rugby gold Tournament is back! Old Gaelic’s primary fundraiser — will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Rich Valley Golf Course. We have room for 144 players on a first-come-first-taken basis.
When reached for comment, Recordon stated, “Diegel’s reign of incompetence is over. He doesn’t even know how golf works and still thinks high scores win games. I’ve told him again and again that the scoring doesn’t work like rugby, but his eyes just glaze over and he nods and smiles every time someone brings up math or numbers.”

Overzealous Volunteer Rugby Coaches Mumbles He Will “Keep an Eye on It” as Lightning Storm Threatens Practice
As Old Gaelic reached the midpoint of its last practice ahead of its first preseason game, acting coach Alex Diegel wasn’t finished. Having just gotten into the finer details of the team’s defensive philosophies, there was still a slate of drills left to finish the night’s work. That’s when lightning struck overhead. Again. And again.
“Ok. First we set the post, then we fold around to our A-B-C positions,” Diegel rambled on amongst the strikes. “Then, against a full backline, we add our 1-2-3 defenders to mark the threats. It’s all about the picture the other team shows us. And, uh… we’ll keep an eye on it,” he said with a nonchalant glance at the strikes of lightning that threatened overhead.
Fortunately, cooler heads and a series of nervous glances caused the whistle to be blown and chalk talk to be continued in the shed. However, when the team went 5/10 on lineouts in the ensuing match, a critical session that was cut short in the Thursday training, Diegel could be heard grumbling on the sideline, “I knew we should have thrown them up in the middle of the damned lightning.”

Old Gaelic kicked off the fall 2025 season with its furthest road match of the season, traveling to EPRU newcomers Monmouth, New Jersey.
The visitors looked strong early on, moving the ball around the pitch and accepting a penalty goal from outside center Koryan Harris to open the scoring. However, a lack of familiarity with the Sir and poor emotional discipline saw the first half’s momentum turn in Monmouth’s favor. Their crafty 12 broke through the try line, then converted his own to make it 7-3 to the hosts, and a yellow card put the black and gold down a man.
However, Gaelic regained its composure and the lead via Harris’ rumble into the goal line and his second good kick of the day on his way to a Man of the Match performance. A deep Monmouth drive was thwarted before halftime, and the visitors took a deep breath with a 10-7 lead at the break.
From there, Gaelic dug into its deep bench of reserves, welcoming the return of veterans Alex Bowie and Brian Hart and a mix of young talent. Cagey old veteran lock Alex Diegel finished off a break from flanker Porter Miller, then the (even older) vet forward Paul Holmes notched another try moments later to put the visitors in complete control of the match, up 24-7 with 20 minutes to go.
OG put in two more tries from Colby Rigg, in his OG debut after a college knee injury, and Harris’ second of the day. The fourth and fifth conversions marked the game’s final margin, 38-7.
MOTM: Harris (2 tries, one penalty goal, 5/5 on conversions).
Viking: Alex Bowie, who brought hard runs and a physical presence off the bench, pancaking Monmouth’s biggest player.

Old Gaelic Unveils Digital Playbook, New Structured Attack
In a sign of its ever-evolving nature as we celebrate 50 years of Gaelic, OG has entered the digital age with an online, interactive playbook.
“I still prefer salt and pepper shakers, cutlery and beer glasses on a bar top, but like cotton long-sleeve jerseys, we all must adapt,” said Head Coach and Slate constructer Dan Roth. In a “Nose” special yet to be released elsewhere, we have found a high-level attack addition to add to the demonstration below:
“As far a structure of attack, I find if you we lift our Fundamentals Under Pressure Always, we can find our Structured Attack Creates Chaos.”

50th Anniversary Jersey Designs
In honor of the 50th, and the fact that the current sets of jerseys are a decade-plus old, it was decided commemorative jerseys were in order. After several submissions and vote following the most Democratic of policies, the following jersey design has been selected. (Note final variations are still in works regarding font). The text will represent the names of all 300+ Old Gaelics in our history. These will be completed and worn during the 2025 Championship Defense run:
50th Anniversary Tour

Citing 2028 Cycle, “YoSon” Throws Hat in Political Ring
Always forward-thinking, David “YoSon” Young has made his proclamation to enter the 2028 political foray. When asked for comment on his political stance, party, or position he desired to fill, he replied. “I don’t fuckin know. That’s why I’m starting so early.” However, with such a pro-crust chicken pot pie to platform, the future seems limitless for this promising young candidate.
When asked a follow up if he knew entering politics required more than literally taking his hat off and throwing it into a ring of people, Young replied. “Fuck you, Diegel.”
